Crafting a Community of UX Practice

Our event, "Crafting a Community of UX Practice," explored challenges that many large organisations face in unifying UX expertise across siloed teams and departments.

In our presentation to a sold-out crowd of 60 UX enthusiasts at Barclays Eagle Labs in Glasgow, we shared our step-by-step process for spearheading a grassroots movement to build connections, communication, and strategic alignment around UX and design thinking principles company-wide.

We discussed our introductory UX presentations which reached hundreds of Barclays employees from all different business domains. We also highlighted the productive design thinking workshops we facilitated for various teams who were passionate yet struggling to implement UX best practices in their work.

The audience was brimming with questions and ideas for driving similar initiatives at their own organisations. Many meaningful connections were made. I'm so grateful to collaborate with this community of curious, creative professionals aiming to transform workflows and cultures through human-centred design.

This was merely our first step in an ongoing effort to nurture UX advancement and skills-building with the talented Glasgow community. I have to extend huge thanks to my awesome co-organizers Bobby King and Kat Husbands from UX Glasgow as well as Barclays Eagle Labs for their stellar partnership and event-planning assistance. More events are already in the works - watch the UX Glasgow space, tickets sell out fast.
